Write For Us

FretFeed is always more than happy to hear from other guitarists, and accept contributions from anyone who is willing to write one.

How To Contribute

First you must be a member of FretFeed. You can register HERE. Once you have an account with us, just log in, and you will see a ‘write’ option in the top left corner. Write you post, and when you are done, submit it. Your post will be reviewed before it is posted, and if it is up to our standards, will be published in 24 hours.

You may also submit articles by e-mail if you prefer by sending your articles to admin@fretfeed.com

What kind of posts are accepted:

  • Any kind of guitar lesson, from beginner to advanced, in any genre.
  • Reviews of albums, as long as they are guitar centered.  good: In flames, Steve Vai, B.B. King. Bad: Clay Aiken
  • Reviews of gear or other guitar-related things.
  • Lessons based around any song. You can see examples of these on this site.
  • Including any other kind of media is fine, but must be hosted somewhere else. Video, Audio, and pictures are accepted and encouraged.

What will not be accepted:

  • non-guitar related articles. This includes bass guitar.
  • Posts that are spammy in nature, that are written solely to promote something.
  • Posts that are short and not well thought out. Try to have a least a couple paragraphs. One paragraph with lots of tab and examples is fine. Also, if you have a multi-media post, then less writing is ok as well.
  • Posts covering topics that have already been thoroughly covered here. Right now this site is young, but I don’t want to end up with 100 articles teaching people how to play the pentatonic scale.

Multi-media Posts

In addition to posting tablature (either in picture or file form) , we support a variety of media in posts, including audio and video.  If you have any trouble or questions about how to do this, contact us at admin@fretfeed.com , and we’ll be more than happy to help get your article set up exactly how you want it!

Posting Guidelines

  • Don’t be vulgar, racist, sexual, or offensive. This is a PG site. An occasional swear or two is fine, but don’t get carried away.
  • Make sure to check your posts for spelling and grammatical errors. The text editor on the site has a built in spell-checker. you don’t have any excuses.
  • Don’t go overboard on your postings. If you submit 20 articles in one day, they aren’t all going to get published.
  • Please begin all your contributions with a by line, written like this. “This is a guest post by [your name]” You can use either your real name or screen name.

What’s in it for me?

Excellent question! One day we would like to have a system in place where we reward people who write good posts, either monetarily or otherwise.  Alas, we are a start up with very little venture capital, and can’t really afford to at the moment. However, that does not mean contributing to Fret Feed isn’t without it’s advantages.

You are allowed to link to whatever you want in your by-line and at the end of your article. If you have a website of your own, or an album, etc. Feel free to plug it in a couple short sentences.  You can also brag to your friends that you were published on a guitar tutorial site. We also have an Author’s section, so feel free to say whatever you like there. That way it will show up on every article you write.
